GUATAMALA MARY

GUATAMALA MARY Feb., 1966
By Lucille Matreci

She was a ray of sunshine
This little girl so rare
God thought He would like to put
This beauty in my care.

She’d walk around so dainty
She’d play with dolls so sweet
Whenever she was naughty
I’d spank her little feet.

She captured hearts around her
By charm and manner grand
And when there was work to do
She’d lend a graceful hand.

How did I’eer deserve her?
This one who is so true
She’s always there around to cheer
The  Lonely and the blue.

Here late she has tried to help
In her humble stately way
God’s poor, deprived and needy
To see the light of day.

Oh God – be kind and gentle
To one so kind as she
Help her to find her own grand place
Whereever it may be.

Don’t let this world surround her
With anything that’s gray
Let joy that she did give to us

Shine back on her, I pray.

Boy Off To Creighton

BOY OFF TO CREIGHTON
By Lucille Casey Matreci

(think-sing excerpt from 1964 version of Boy off to Camp.
Words by Lucille (Allen Shepppard) Matreci

Dearest Bobby, Baby Brudder
This is from you little Mudder
I have cleaned out all electrodes
I thought surely then that I would explode!

The transistors and resistors
Didn’t raise a single blister
But the wires were a mire
And I thought then that surely I would expire.

But I straightened all the kinks out
And in bundles they do peek out
Of shoe boxes by the dozen
Small and large wires set me buzzing

I know kumquots for the cumquats
And the speakers from the touchnots
In the tin cans they do reside
Plastic covers, you peek inside.

I have sorted all your treasures
It did give me greatest pleasure

Dear Bobbieee – now Bobby Baby
can’t you see
All this sorting that I did did
Left me most tecked in the heart!-head

Finished – Amy just walked in.  I tested my sing song out on her and she thought I ought to send it off to college to be refined.

God's Call

God’s Call
By Lucille Casey Matreci

God’s call will come to all of us
though earthly jobs may not be through
He wants us for eternity
And says “Come, now I need you.”

God’s call will come to all of us
We don’t know how, why, when or where -
It may be quick; it may be slow
Sometimes we feel it quite unfair.

God’s call will come to all of us
We cannot know his reason
When it comes, we must be ready
Regardless of the season.

God’s call will come to all of us
On earth we must prepare
For this everlasting journey;
Leave those behind for whom we care.

God’s call will come to all of us
Will I accept His will?
Can I be resigned, accept my fate?
Or will I say, “Please, just wait until…”

When Your call comes for me, Dear Lord
Take me, gently, by the hand
Erase the fear that I may feel
Please lead me to your promised land.

Help me do your will upon this earth
That I may heaven see
Prayerful, Thoughtful, Heaven-bound
When Your call comes for me.
